“The Italian Specialty group ‘geography of Information Society’ web site”
The Italian Specialty Group on Geography of Information Society developed a web site http://www.societageografica.it/network/index.html and it is open to joint initiatives with other national groups or individual scholars interested in the Italian Information Society(ies). The network was founded in March 2007 aiming to provide a forum for intellectual exchanges among Italian geographers studying the geographies of information and communications technologies, as well as their intersections with broader political, economic, and cultural contexts. The network interacts continuously with the IGU Commission on the Geography of the Information Society. It further wishes to develop cooperation and ties with other national groups focused on this specialty. The contact person is the network coordinator and founder : Maria Paradiso.
The websites offers a short presentation to the field, information on initiatives, links and it is accompanied by frequent mails to the members mailing list. Italian scholars active in the field in Italy and Italian scientists in ’diaspora’ are welcome to join the network.
